The Science of the Soul is a rather pessimistic, even cynical
outlook regarding life on earth and life after death. I think it is
designed to highly motivate (terrify?) one into meditating
daily on God and into being obeisant to one’s Guru or
Master (and only their living Master would be qualified of
course!). According to the author, one would otherwise
suffer dearly for eons and eons of time in very negative
states until one happens to get another human body which
is, again according to the author, absolutely essential for
finding God. Even if this were just another so called
“teaching” or “philosophy” why would anyone in their right
mind want to take their chances? Can you be sure of what
will happen to you when you die? Is it really good sound
policy just to rely on faith or religion? Can anyone be certain
that all one’s after death experiences will be pleasant
one’s? I would much rather err on the side of caution than
take my chances! According to “The Path of Sant Mat” or the
teachings of “Radha Soami,” one should start by learning
how to “die daily” (meditate extremely deeply) using the
Surat Shabd Yoga technique described in this book.

To be honest, life on earth (and anywhere for that matter)
seems to be hard for everyone. No one can completely
escape suffering, no matter how hard one may try. There are
no easy shortcuts from the painful lessons one must learn
and the lessons one must face. My whole life has been full
of emotional pain and suffering forcing me to find many,
many things that could help one’s life in many ways. If it
were not for all that I have learned from my suffering,
anxieties and pain, I would probably never have written my
free online book, Science of Wholeness and especially the
website, “Science of Wholeness” which contains the etire
text of this important book.

Anyway, who really is happy? Are you really happy? Even If
you think you are and it is not a spiritual or “Divine” joy, but
rather only a “materialistic” joy, it would have to end
someday, because nothing materialistic is permanent, and
you never know when it will end. Even spiritual happiness
can be transient if it is not based on sound principles and
sound teachings.

The Science of the Soul really expresses quite well the
awful sufferings and miseries of the human condition and
how futile and idiotic materialistic existence is. At the same
time the author states that only humans in their physical
body have the opportunity to find God or permanent escape
from the wheel of birth, suffering and death. Only as
humans living in the flesh have the capability to meditate in
the third eye and listen to the inner sounds, therefore it
behoves one to seek God as much as possible while he or
she still can before it is too late; otherwise, according to this
book, one is in danger of devolving down to lower species
and not even getting a human body again for many, many
eons. Again, at least this is what the author states. I am not
saying this, just wondering how true these statements really
are, and yet to be on the safe side, should probably not
dismiss them carelessly. In other words, even if he could be
wrong, why take the risk? I would meditate regularly anyway
and do everything I can to find God before dying, rather than
to be taken by surprise and be possibly subject to future
incarnations because of too much worldly attachment and
confusion. There are other more open theories that we
create our own reality, but how would one know for sure
exactly what reality one has created for one’s self so far and
will create in the future for this world and the next?
Regardless, much more research is needed, and several
hours of deep, daily meditation can be the finest and
simplest form of inner research ever.

amazing near-death experiences I have written about in
previous articles (see my resource information). Is it not far
better to “die daily” in scientific, Master-guided meditation in
the third eye on the inner sounds rather than to just continue
on one’s materialistic pursuits without regard to the
inevitable demise at the end of life? Who thinks one is going
to live forever, anyway? Even if one somehow finds a way to
live indefinitely (with all the latest research on antioxidants,
diets, genes, etc. this possibility, barring injury or accidental
death, could actualize soon) one would still have to endure
an eternity of being stuck or limited to the confines, laws
and restrictions of a physical body. Either way, one still,
ultimately has to evolve (grow or transform spiritually) and
transcend these restrictions!

The Science of the Soul and other books by the
same author seem to be available only in certain
bookshops and mainly those associated with the spiritual
organization that had the book published. I cannot find it at
Amazon.com which usually seems to carry everything.

While in the “Power of Now”, I felt that Tolle’s term ego was more self evidently limited to thoughts that arise out of the not always so helpful conditioning of our past, in “A New Earth” I sensed there might be a new level of meaning added to his use of “ego” that seems a bit over the top. Of course, this could be my ego running away with me, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. However, there are certain passages in Tolle’s new book that had me wondering whether Tolle now is teaching some concepts that fly in the face of the beauty of this world. While I’m not sure that Tolle meant to be interpreted in this way and I can appreciate that his concepts could be as true as anything that I believe, this time around there are some feelings I have about some of what he is saying that I believe should not be too easily dismissed.

What am I talking about? I’m referring to Tolle’s statement about the end of belief systems, his contradictory references to moral relativism, and how he curiously points to the lack of the existence of anything personal as the truth in what appears to be his confusion of Source with the self.

Okay, I’m found out. I happened to have gotten a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, so of course, when I read that “we are coming to the end not only of mythologies but also of ideologies and belief systems,” (p. 21) my attention stood straight up. I can imagine a world without mythology, but personally (there I go again), I’d like to keep at least history of it so we can have something to do besides snore. Maybe I can go as far as imagining a life sans ideology at the macro level, but my heart starts to hurt when all of our beliefs go. Why? I say so because to me our beliefs are both the potential for all good as well as bad. Here sits our raison d’tre in the seat of free will and of the purpose of duality itself. If there is nothing to believe, if all truth is known in the absolute, then there is no choice and furthermore, there is no more learning. Perhaps this is the goal, the Omega Point, I don’t know, but something tells me that learning (requiring mistakes) is just as easily a part of the expansion of the Universe – eternally.

On the topic of relative and absolute truth Tolle has me logically baffled and also questioning the level of spiritual inspiration for parts of this new book. On the one hand, I fully understand the spirit behind the idea that a “right versus wrong” attitude is behind so much conflict and violence in the world. There is no doubt about that. But then Tolle goes on:

“…does that mean there is no such thing as right or wrong behavior, action, or belief? And wouldn’t that be the moral relativism that some contemporary Christian teachings see as the great evil of our times? The history of Christianity is, of course, a prime example of how the belief that you are in sole possession of the truth, that is to say, right, can corrupt your actions and behavior to the point of insanity. For centuries, torturing and burning people alive if their opinion diverged even in the slightest from the Church doctrine or narrow interpretations of scripture (the “Truth”) was considered right because the victims were ‘wrong.’

… [a paragraph down the way]

The Catholic and other churches are actually correct when they identify relativism, the belief that there is no absolute truth to guide human behavior, as one of the evils of our times… (p.69-70).

[Much further into the book] “Does this mean that people are not responsible for what they do when possessed by the pain-body? My answer is: How can they be? How can you be responsible when you are unconscious? However, in the greater scheme of things, human beings are meant to evolve into conscious beings, and those who don’t will suffer the consequences of their unconsciousness.” (p.163).

Ah, the relative truth is just so hard to understand sometimes. And, Tolle verges on making a Boomeritis mistake. (Check out the boomer philosopher Ken Wilbur’s book for the origins of the term Boomeritis. Wilbur makes a darn good argument that relativism leads to extremely egoistic, even narcissistic behavior). Tolle’s mistake is that he doesn’t make it clear that at the level in which we live, accountability is a must, but that on the level consciousness of the Divine, accountability for the unconscious mistake makes no sense and is not in keeping with Divine Mercy. I think Einstein had a handle on it when he said “No problem can be solved from the level of consciousness from which it was created.” However, that doesn’t mean we should or even can skip all the way to the absolute level. Wouldn’t it defeat the purpose of having experiences in time if we could just skip it and Be God? It’s all for the greater good.

Yes, in my belief system we must hold each other accountable for our actions even though we do not have the benefit of the perspective of the absolute. We obviously do not do a good job of holding each other accountable and the current use of the death penalty among so many other brutal practices point to this. So, let’s improve, but please, I don’t want the Hells Angels to be security guards at the next concert that I attend and I’m really feeling weak kneed at the idea of my child’s next school teacher being a redeemed child molester.

Next let’s take a look at some of what Tolle says about all things personal and what seems to be a confusion of Source with oneself. He writes on page 57, “you realize that your true identity in consciousness itself. … The ultimate truth of who you are is … I Am.” While I seek to become one with I Am, I do not believe that I Am (God Himself/Herself). Instead I believe that I am OF God I Am and that I am truly one with I Am in eternity similarly to the way that my finger is a part of my body in the world of the finite. I also believe that my personality and my experiences are a gift forevermore if I so choose. I am not simply a total illusion whose reality is only that of an impersonal and neutral God who is using my eyes and personality filter to experience a unique view. Existence is existence. It is not a television show with virtual experiential capabilities and simultaneous observation capability – God as actor and as spectator, while the actor’s consciousness apart from being God is an illusion. Whew. That Seems like a cruel joke if it is true.

Perhaps it is easier to think of the Universe impersonal because our minds have so much trouble imagining the infinite number of unique personalities. But, in my experience, and this is probably only really understandable at an experiential level, God is both impersonal and very, very personal. And, all of the celestial and mortal beings who live in this Universe are undoubtedly personal and uniquely individual.

Maybe it’s just easier to overcome our negative and imbalanced egos and become balanced and forgiving human beings by depersonalizing our viewpoints. However, it seems to me that the concept of each of us being the impersonal God I Am tips the scale of balance over to the other side with too much weight being added. On this point and without fear of being judged as egoistic, I’ll stand by my personality as the essence that I recognize as myself through the window of my eyes when I look in the mirror. Though my body will perish, the unique essence of my soul, the snowflake that I am in the blanket of snow that is I Am will live on. That is God’s gift to me and the gift that I have in common with each of my fellows.

Another part of the book describes the crisis he was in, in the early 90`s. He is telling a story where he is walking from his office to a meeting with his creditors which he owed 9.2 billion dollars.

He tells that he was passing a beggar on the street, and was thinking “This guy is worth 9.2 billion dollars more than me!”

Hearing this from Donald Trump was something I did not expect, usually you just hear of the tough New York business man. I could feel the humbleness that comes from an experience like that, and it makes him more human and approachable.

As you probably know, Donald Trump is the star of his own reality show “The Apprentice”

The Apprentice has become a mega hit which is going in to the third season and shows in many countries around the world.

We get to know how the show was created, and we get a close look behind the scenes of the first “Apprentice” round. This is very interesting, and if you are thinking of applying, this book will give you the inside tips from the Boss himself. The first round had 80 000 applications from where the 16 candidates was chosen.

To sum up the book in a short sentence: It is a great way to get Donald Trump as a mentor, without having to apply for “The Apprentice”

I full heartedly recommend this book to you; it’s entertaining and full of good advice.

So why would you take their advice? Jim Edwards has sold thousands of his eBooks online. Aside from writing eBooks, he has several CD-Rom products, videos, numerous audio tapes, software packages and a newsletter with thousands of subscribers. David Garfinkel is a copywriter and an award winning business journalist. He was the San Francisco Bureau chief for McGraw-Hill World News. More recently, he was the Editor in chief for “What’s Online” a privately circulated Internet marketing newsletter where subscribers paid $497.00 a year.

Yanik Silver said: “Jim and David have really broken the code on what it takes to make big money with almost any eBook on the Web. If that’s what you want to do I (Yanik) can only give you one piece of adviceget this resource now!”

One of the most valuable points of “eBook Secrets Exposed” is that they try to teach you how to find a hot market for your eBook and to find Joint Venture Partners that will sell your product. This is especially important if you don’t have an internet subscriber list of your own. They have even included email wording suggestions to send to potential JV partners. They further explain resale rights and how to build your own list.

“eBook Secrets Exposed” stresses how important it is to choose a topic that already has a market and has other people selling to that market. This gives you two vital opportunities: 1) the Market is established and 2) you have the potential for multiple joint venture partners. And why would you need joint venture partners? Because they already have lists of people who bought their products and they just may be interested in yours. The way to do this is mapped out in the eBook.

You will probably have to read the eBook through a few times to “get” all the points that are included, but after the second or third time you’ll have a great grasp on how to write an eBook.

There is a section in the book that goes over using pay per click advertising to get conversion numbers (number of visitors to your website that purchased your eBook). Conversion numbers are used to entice Joint Venture Partners. Although this is an option, the down side is the days of the inexpensive pay per click are over, so this could cost you some money.

This eBook is very well written and packed full of information. The only other question I would have or improvement I would like to see is how to get joint venture partners in different ways when you are just starting out. This is always a murky area.

Other than my comments on Niche Markets and finding JV Partners when you’re new, “eBook Secrets Exposed” is a very concise tutorial on how to write an eBook and market it to a targeted audience. If you want to learn quickly on how to write an eBook and you want serious information on marketing, I would give this book an 8 out of a possible 10.

Novel writers (especially fiction authors) are gifted with creative minds to design a story that would influence and give everyone a different reaction depending on how the novel was made. Let us face it, not all are great writers but they have made it somewhere for them to deserve a book review. Criticism is part of it, but what do we know, some may have more experience to review other people’s work and some may think they are far better to pass judgments. Others maybe to hypocritical and narrow minded to admit that deep inside they also like the story but since they hear that everybody is disagreeable, the person then are quick to dismiss the book without even giving it a glimpse or a chance to have a fair fight.

Examining reviews are healthy sometimes but not all the time. They give out what you need and do not need to know. There are books that may not seem to attract others but would mesmerize and make you drool for more. Others have too much opinion on things that they forget that not all they say are right. It would really be easy if you would sit, open the book and read it to yourself and make your own judgment. Some books are merely out of the author’s perspective and produced by their imagination. Some may not like it but these are not so simply written as to insult the more intelligent and wiser mind but purely to give readers something that they would enjoy reading.

In the story time is always changing, and the past is always interweaves with present. The story is told through flashbacks, with different characters remembering different parts of their lives, but throughout, the pub stays exactly the same. While clothes change and hairstyles come and go, the importance of a good pint and great friends does not. When the heroes were younger, they brought their wives and children to meet in the pub. Now when they are older, it becomes an escape from the wives and the loneliness of old age.

Last Orders describes also the past of the Britain. It shows the major historical changes in 20th century Britain: war, the relative prosperity and hope of the post-war years in Europe, and then the declining promise by the dream of the welfare state. On the way to Margate, friends visit war memorials and remember events from their past. Those events are also a part of the national history. Swift tackles ideas of narrative, history, conflicts between the generations, the place of an individual in the larger scale of events. The book implies that the past of one person is also a part of the past of the whole country.

The places along the friends’ journey, describe England’s noble past. As they continue to travel, the characters remember their personal pasts, and the complex and touching lives of some ordinary folk, full of small triumphs but deep regrets, are brought to light. It becomes clear that the past is composed of a great number of such stories of ordinary people. The friends come to think that they are not special. Jack is not special. The dead are all equal. “There’s only one sea.”

While Last Orders is a book about memory, it also explores how the past and present intersect and clash in the struggles between parents and children. The novel includes some social trends among the equivalent of the Baby Boomers in England, such as Jack’s disappointment at Vince’s unwillingness to carry on the family business, and Ray’s heartbreak when his daughter immigrates to Australia. Lenny and Vince represent past, while their daughterpresent.

While the book is certainly about looking back and coming to terms with long-held secrets and thorny life choices, it is also, in the end, about looking forward. As a hospitalized Jack advises his buddy Ray, “If you ever get the option, you go first. It’s the carrying on that’s hard. Ending, it ain’t anything.”
