Leisure Suit Costumes for Halloween
When I think of leisure suits, I think of the video game Leisure Suit Larry, which was a heck of a lot of fun at the time. But no matter what you think of when you hear the words “leisure” and “suit”, you might be interested in the latest article from 70scostume.org, where they share several ideas about leisure suit Halloween costumes.
If you’re too young to remember the 1970’s, you might not even know what a leisure suit is. Let me explain. In the 1970’s, someone came up with the idea that suits worn during your leisure time should be more comfortable and more stylish than the suits you wore during work hours. So the leisure suit was born.
Most leisure suits have large collars. They’re made of light weight fabric, for increased comfort. And many times, leisure suits come in colors you’d never see a standard business suit in. You can forget all about a navy blue leisure suit with subtle white or grey pinstripes. Instead, think of lime green, or plaid, or maybe even maroon. Pair the suit with a colorful dress shirt that’s unbuttoned. Usually people wearing leisure suits wore chains over their hairy chests too.
If you can pull off the look, a leisure suit can make an excellent costume to wear at any 1970’s themed Halloween event. Leisure suits are still popular with some people; I understand that there is even an annual leisure suit convention. If you really want to get some leisure suit costume ideas, that would be the place to find them.
