What Parents Should Look out for in a Pushchair

One of the most important considerations when it comes to the baby’s pushchair is how comfortable and supportive the seat itself is. Newborns especially need adequate support for their heads and spines (and bodies in general) so that they develop properly. In the UK, babies are also not allowed to leave the hospital without a car seat, so your first pushchair may have to be a travel system.

If your baby is young enough that he or she hasn’t learned how to sit up by him or herself yet, the prams/pushchairs you look at should allow for the child to be in a prone position. Newborns especially need to be able to lie flat so that they can get sufficient oxygen. Not all pushchairs are proper for newborns, so check the pushchair’s guide and determine the age group it has been manufactured for.

The pushchair should also have good seat padding and have shock absorbing material for good spinal support, and head and neck cushioning and support. This will protect the child from any sudden impact while he or she is traveling on uneven ground.

Different pushchairs have different restraint systems. Choose a five-point restraint system over a three-point restraint system for best results. Whether you choose a five-point restraint system or three-point restraint system, though, the system should be adjustable and it should not press anywhere too tightly on the baby’s body, especially his or her tummy.

Parents all want the best for their children, and it can be difficult to choose between the many prams and baby pushchairs available online. Finding something which is suitable for both parent and child can be even harder at times. Use some trusted online resources to find out all the pros and cons before you buy any baby prams or pushchairs. This way you should be able to find the right one successfully.
