Wigs for a Better Tomorrow

Me and my family couldn’t believe the indestructible Chandra Upton, my life-long soul mate, might someday own and wear lace front wigs. Her extravagant hair styles flowed in sync with impeccable style. Get this. Miss Prim n’ Proper will be eternally the center of attention because of her hair. Very few know she utilizes synthetic lace wigs. Keep it on the DL.

When we were young girls in our home town of Scottsdale, we once took turns winning Miss “SCH” four years running. But in college her alopecia took effect and she became nearly bald. I suggested a few lace front wigs. Whatever, she just shaved her head. The incredible woman fearlessly demonstrated her bald-headed look.

At her boyfriend Jacob’s homecoming, we heckled till a numbskull clumsily hit the little ball (or whatever they play with) towards the fans. Quick on her feet, she jumped up for it when her hand-knitted “head sweater” (her idea) jumped from her head, unveiling her naked head. As though nothing were amiss, she lobbed it playfully to the game official. That’s so her!

That said, it eventually got to her. One time she invited me over for a mid-day lemonade chat, where she looked me in the eye and revealed that she prefers to make do with a shorn head out of bitterness. She loved her old hair so much she can’t even become dependent on women’s medical wigs, though she wanted her hair back. At that moment our fearless protagonist became beet pink in the face and requested that I should think nothing more of it. I thought “oh, well.”

I wanted to help so bad. Shortly after, I asked her about settling the wig issue. Finally we both arrived at the perfect solution: we’ll think of wigs as fashion, and we love fashion. One for me and one for her.

Not sure who was more stunned by the fashionable styles. We never knew that synthetic wigs were so prevalent for so many women. These lace front wigs were marvelous. As for me, pieced together a comprehensively creative wardrobe around my wig. Out of solidarity, but you knew that already. Not long ago she sent me her thanks for her dignified synthetic wig, and confessed it invites new vibrance that she’d forgotten. It’s a relief to realize little miss attitude rediscover the sassy, feminine girl I remember. We both are.
